Are you a previous GWWF Festival Queen?

If so we want to hear from you and we want you to

play a very special role in the 2012 Festival.

Can you help...    The Festival Committee always welcome new local members and helpers. It's a relatively small committment to keep alive the traditions of many, many years. We'd love to see you...

Who Are We?

Did you know that the Goosnargh and Whittingham Whitsuntide Festival Logo was the winning entry to a competition designed by 11-year old Elizabeth Dewhurst. That was 8 years ago, and we're still using it today!

The Whitsuntide Festival is organised by the Festival Committee and a group of hugely dedicated friends in Goosnargh & Whittingham, close to the city of Preston in Lancashire, North West England.

The Festival Day on the Saturday after Spring Bank Holiday Monday continues a tradition at least a century old (see our History Page), featuring a Community Procession through the village.

The parade of the festival banner, decorated floats, fancy dress competitions, displays of Maypole Dancing and visiting marching bands all set the scene for the crowning of the year's "Festival Queen" who supports village charity activities during her reign. The day is wrapped up with the Family Tea held in Goosnargh Village Hall.

Our other family activities throughout the year are just as special and include the choosing of the Whitsuntide Festival Queen and Family Disco, the Hallowe'en Fancy Dress Disco, Children's Sports Day. Fundraising events include the Spring Jumble Sale, Raffle and Patrons Sponsorship Scheme. (See our Diary Page and News Page for more details.)
